Sunshine and spirit guided the many Gators who contributed to our 32nd annual ‘Gator Walk Pilgrimage’. The morning started with more than 150 Lakeshore Catholic staff and students celebrating mass at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish. At the concussion of mass, this year’s route took students on the Port Colborne Friendship Trail, and along the streets of Killaly and Janet, where they were raising awareness and visibility to the public. Our walk ended at Lakeshore Catholic where students enjoyed pizza, chips and juice with their peers celebrating fellowship and a job well done.
The theme selected by the pilgrimage committee for this year’s Gator Walk was ‘Rise Up’, inspired by the Andra Day song.
Gators continue to recognize year after year that our Gator Walk Pilgrimage is more than a journey of footsteps — it continues to be a welcomed journey of faith, awakening, and solidarity. This yearly tradition and the theme ‘Rise Up’ calls each of us to live out the Gospel message in action, to stand with the oppressed and the marginalized, and to bring the light of Christ into places of injustice and pain.
Memories were made on this beautiful day and our brothers and sisters in La Bermuda, El Salvador and at Casa El Norte in Fort Erie will greatly benefit from the $5100 raised. The spirit of giving is alive and well at LCHS!
