The last thing Shania Hintenberger wanted was for her high school basketball career to come to an end with a loss on her home court.

The 17-year-old, Grade 12 student took matters into her own hands, knocking down a game-high 21 points as the Lakeshore Catholic Gators edged the Saint Francis Phoenix 59-55 in the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association senior girls AA basketball final Thursday at The Swamp.

Not only did the Port Colborne native lead all scorers, but she netted 10 of her points in the second half, including five pressure-packed free throws in the last two minutes of the game.
