Grade 11 Health & Physical Education

PPL3O - Healthy Active Living Education (Open):

This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students interest throughout their lives. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills, and will be given opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, coping, social, and interpersonal skills. Students will also study the components of healthy relationships, reproductive health, mental health, and personal safety.
Course fee.

PAI3OF - Individual & Small Group Activities - Fitness (Open):

This course is an extension of PPL3O which focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students' interest through their lives. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills and will be given opportunities to practice goal setting. Decision making, social, and interpersonal skills. Students will also study components of healthy relationships, reproductive health, mental health and personal safety. This course focuses on request activities.

PAI3OS - Individual & Small Group Activities - Super fit (Open):

This course is an extension of PPL3O which focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students' interest through their lives. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills and will be given opportunities to practice goal setting. Decision making, social, and interpersonal skills. PAL3OH - Large Group Activities - Hockey Focus Course (Open):

This course emphasizes regular participation in ice hockey and development of hockey skills, as well as fitness training. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine skills. This will be achieved through sport specific fitness training, 18-20 hours of on-ice instruction and various activities to enhance personal competence, fitness and health. The health component of the course will include examination of issues related to healthy sexuality, healthy eating, substance use and abuse, and the use of informed decision making, conflict resolution and social skills in making personal choices.

PAL3OF Large Group Activities: Football Academy (Open):

The Grade 11 Football Academy course will focus on leadership, coaching/teaching philosophy and game strategies. Football-specific agility, strength and core training techniques will be emphasized. Athletes will work with experienced coaches/mentors within a sport-specific training schedule to enhance their overall abilities as well as develop personal management, decision-making and teamwork skills. Self -reflection, personal growth and confidence are key goals of the course. This course incorporates Football Canada and Ontario Football Alliance elements designed for long term athletic development.
